Edmonds Yacht Club
I didn’t recall seeing Tiger Woods at the banquet this year although we celebrated the year of the Tiger. Oh that’s right I’ve got the wrong Tiger its the Chinese year of the Tiger. If you haven’t seen the new Edmonds Yacht Club here’s your chance it was finished in record time I believe Rotary had the pleasure of meeting there first. But this year’s Edmonds Chamber annual banquet was held there and it was grand evening. Hope you enjoy the photo’s taken by Larry D. Pifer Michell P dad, just kidding.

Carol Schillios
The Lady on the Roof, who’s that lady everyone is asking. Why its Carol Schillios and she’s on top of the roof of her building until she raises $1,000,000.00 or 30 days which ever comes first. The excitement of this act has brought a buzz to downtown Edmonds. Just the town and media attention has Edmonds Wa on the map in a positive way. You could sell tickets to this event and it would be worth it. Carol Schillios is the founder of Fabric of Life Foundation, her mission is to celebrate what people are doing to make the world a better place. Carol’s goal is to live above her shop in downtown Edmonds until 1 million people give her $1 and share how they are making a difference. She is making a stand in her own way to raise money for foundation to bring awareness to poverty. I personally have met and talk with Carol we are both involved in the Edmonds Chamber Commerce trying to make a difference in Edmonds. I’ve talked with Carol many times and each time I walk away impressed, inspired, and grateful that I had the opportunity to be in her company. Fabric of Life was founded in 2002 and is a non-profit organization that supports the development projects around the world. Its focus is on improving the lives of women and children through cooperative partnerships that increase access to education, health care and affordable credit. The $1 million she will raise will support the school in Mai, Africa, which helps girls go from begging on the streets to productive self-sufficient women. Every dollar will go to support programs that help people help themselves. Last Saturday Carol was lifted onto the roof of her Fabric of Life building located at 523 Main St in downtown Edmonds by Edmonds Fire Department with the help of Mayor Gary Haakenson.
Her shop selles the fabrics, purses, jewelery, and many other crafts that are hand made by girls training at the foundation’s school in Mali. Carol is proof that people can make a difference she truly believes that we all have the ability to do extraordinary things, go Carol and god bless you for making your presence known here and around the world. Rumor has it that the money she raises will be matched by others even a possibility Ellen Degeneres but that’s just a rumor or is it come on Ellen help a sister out!
