Pictures From The Weekend

Posted by tracy cobbin 1 Comment »

This weekend my wife and I decided because it was so nice that we would not work but just go for a drive and drive until we were ready to stop. Well that drive lead us to one of my favorite places “Ocean Shores” I love the ocean its so relaxing I don’t care what the weathers like. We lucked out and it was a beautiful sunny day, Ocean Shores on top of its game. The water was ruff with big waves, all the better that didn’t stop the young at heart from getting their feet wet, swimming, or surfing. You know some of the best times in life are those spur of the moment ideas we often have because we don’t think it to death we Just Do It! Ocean Shores will always be special to me because that’s where I proposed to my lovely wife. Hope every one had a great weekend enjoy the photos.

Johnny’s Sports Bar & Grill

Posted by tracy cobbin No Comments »

Johnny of Johnny’s Sports Bar & Grill recently celebrated his one year anniversary in downtown Edmonds waterfront location.  Johnny’s open just before “The Taste Of  Edmonds” last year and has been going strong since. I’ve gotten to know Johnny on a personal level and know he has worked hard to get where he is. Johnny believes that we attract the things we want in life and were not in competation with each other, I buy that. Johnny’s featured artist Whitney Buckingham and her extraordinary collections of art at  last Thursday’s Edmonds Art Walk. Johnny’s Sport Bar has something for every one Beer Pong, Pool, Darts, and several Big Screens to enjoy all your sporting events, and music on the weekends. Not to mention great food and 600sf Waterfront Deck to sit back and enjoy the view with a cold one. Congratulation’s Johnny on your one year anniversary!!

Linda Perales, MBA – The Professional Tutors Network

Posted by tracy cobbin No Comments »

Last week I had an opportunity to interview Linda Perales, founder and director of Professional Tutors Network.  Linda and I first met at the Ambassadors breakfast sponsored by Edmonds Chamber Of Commerce  and “Brighton Court” we meet every Wednesday morning. That Wednesday Linda spoke to the group of her work with special needs children and how all children respond to different types of treatment. It was first time I heard the term “Brain Gym” Brain Gym is a a registered trademark of Brain Gym® International These simple exercises are based on the copyrighted work of Paul E. Dennison, Ph.D., and Gail E. Dennison. encountered Brain Gym in “Smart Moves,” a best selling book written by Carla Hannaford, Ph.D. Dr. Hannaford states that our bodies are very much a part of all our learning, and learning is not an isolated “brain” function. Every nerve and cell is a network contributing to our intelligence and our learning capability. Many educators have found this work quite helpful in improving overall concentration in class, wow that’s great information.

Professional Tutors Network was established in 2005 by Linda Perales, a certified teacher and professional tutor for over 30 years.  Her experience includes classroom teaching in Kindergarten through 12th grades in public and private schools and non-profit organizations in Washington, Texas, North Carolina, California and Germany.  She has also worked with soldiers on basic skills for the Department of Defense. Linda has had success working with students who are easily distracted or have memory issues, as well as those students with ADD, ADHD, learning disabilities, dyslexia, or autism. Most importantly, her tutors sincerely care about their students’ well-being, and take care to make certain that their teaching strategies are appropriate and effective. Linda is very sincere and dedicated in her belief that everyone can learn something new with the services provided by ”Professional Tutors Network” to children and their families, no matter their age or circumstance. But they also know that there is no one right way to learn .  For information please contact Linda at tutors@professionaltutorsnetwork.org of call 1-877-9tutors to learn more.

Edmonds Marina Beach Dog Park

Posted by tracy cobbin No Comments »

As I was walking through Edmonds off- leash park the other day I thought what a nice off -leash park. As a former dog owner who lived in the city I new of only one off leash area that had water access Magnuson Park off of Sandpoint Way in Seattle. There are many off-leash areas in greater Seattle area, but Edmonds is one of the few off-leash areas that provide a scenic and pleasant non-threatening place for dogs and their owner. Dogs are permitted to run free, swim, meet new friends and play. It was a small group of volunteers that founded the non-profit organization called “Off-Leash Area- Edmonds (O.L.A.E.)” in 2005 and 2006. The IRS determined that O.L.A.E. is exempt from Federal Income Tax under section 501 (c)3 of the code. All contributions to O.L.A.E. are tax deductible.

O.L.A.E.’s primary missions are: becoming responsible users and stewards of the off-leash area in Edmonds educating folks on responsible dog ownership and promoting off-leash dog recreation and usage.

Directions and Location:

498 Admiral Way:  Follow Edmonds Ferry Signs and turn west on Dayton St. and proceed to Admiral Way.  Turn South on Admiral Way and go to the end.  We are south of Marina Beach. For more information call Edmonds Parks and recreation or Edmonds Realtor, Tracy Cobbin

Lynnwood Royals

Most of us who live in Talbot Park of Edmonds Washington do the daily drive-by of the Perrinville Post Office. But if you were to take an extra moment and glance at the flowers planted just in front of Post Office at the corner of 76th Ave W. and Olympic View Drive, you’d notice the handiwork of students from the Lynnwood High School Horticulture class. I just wanted to give a little credit where credit is due for the Lynnwood High School students who donated their time to make the postal carrier facility in Perrinville just a little nicer. Thanks Lynnwood High School Royals, nice to see good kids working to improve the community. Great Job!

I start Tuesday and Thursday morning working out at 24hr Fitness  located next to the Thriftway Market off Ballinger Way between Edmonds and Lake Forest Park.  Lindsey Whitman is a Service Representative for 24hr Fitness and has been for the past 2yrs. She is the first person to greet you with a big smile and a kind word. Even though most of us come in reluctantly her beautiful smile sets the mood for your work out and we smile in return. Lindsey says her goal is to see that everyone leaves the desk smiling. I say that she is a great asset to 24hr Fitness because she makes a great first impression!! Thanks Lindsey.

Is It Time For The Taste Of Edmonds Already!!

Posted by tracy cobbin 1 Comment »

Yes, its almost that time again even though most of us feel like summer is going by rather quickly.  Less than one week one of the major summer events in Edmonds will kick off.  “The Taste Of Edmonds” and with all the excitement that it brings food, entertainment, beer , wine, trades booths, and events for the children. I personally enjoy this community event because its brings all of Edmonds together for one big bash before its time to think about vacations ending and school starting. Now in it’s 26th year, this annual event will feature fun and activities for all ages. Forty booths will feature a variety of food items and over seventy vendors will display jewelry, art, photography, clothing, pottery, glass & many other crafts available for purchase.

Listen to the sounds of Latin, Jazz, POP and other music at the American Family Insurance Main Stage, featuring Multi Platinum recording artist EDGAR WINTER on Friday, or enjoy other performances in the Beer Garden.  Entertainment for the whole family will also be available at the Kid’s Stage including an appearance by JP Patches and the Seafair Pirates!

Visit Friday and Saturday from 11am-10pm, Sunday, 11am-7pm. Admission is $3 per person, admission is free for children 12 and under. Will see you there!!
